Key Account Manager

Food & Specialty Ingredients | Strategic Accounts | Business Development

Here at HR Soul our solutions amplify the performance of people and the soul of company culture. From strategic planning with CEO’s, partnering with HR leaders on key projects, building high performing teams to coaching and recruiting the future of our client’s organization.

About the Opportunity

HR Soul is partnering with an established, international organization in the flavor, food ingredient and specialty ingredient industry to identify an experienced Key Account Manager.

This is a highly visible commercial role responsible for developing long-term relationships with strategic customers, identifying new revenue opportunities, and guiding customer initiatives from initial concept through commercialization.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of strategic sales ability, technical curiosity and relationship-building skills. This is not simply an account maintenance position. We are looking for someone who can understand a customer's business, uncover opportunities, navigate complex organizations, and bring the right internal resources together to deliver solutions.

What You'll Do

Strategic Account Management

  • Develop and execute annual strategic plans for assigned key accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with senior decision-makers, influencers and technical stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact and trusted advisor for customers.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and identify opportunities to strengthen and expand relationships.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each customer's business, products, priorities and growth strategy.

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to increase revenue, profitability and share of wallet within existing and prospective accounts.
  • Develop pricing strategies and recommendations.
  • Lead commercial negotiations within established parameters.
  • Generate and advance new projects from initial opportunity through commercialization.
  • Proactively identify where new products, applications or solutions could create value for customers.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience through proactive communication and follow-through.
  • Anticipate customer needs and coordinate internal resources to address challenges quickly.
  • Represent the organization during customer meetings, presentations, innovation sessions and strategic discussions.
  • Become a genuine business partner rather than simply a supplier.

Product Development & Commercialization

  • Partner closely with R&D, Applications and technical teams to move customer projects from concept to commercial launch.
  • Translate customer needs into clear internal project briefs.
  • Coordinate project timelines, deliverables and customer communication.
  • Participate in tastings, product presentations, technical discussions and innovation workshops.
  • Maintain visibility into multiple projects and ensure momentum throughout the development process.

Market Intelligence & Innovation

  • Monitor customer, category, consumer and competitive trends.
  • Identify emerging opportunities within the food, beverage and specialty ingredient markets.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable commercial opportunities.
  • Develop compelling customer presentations that connect trends, innovation and commercial solutions.

Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D and other internal teams.
  • Coordinate resources across the organization to deliver against customer commitments.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues and teams to align strategies for global customers.
  • Balance customer expectations with operational capabilities and commercial objectives.

Commercial Reporting

  • Maintain accurate CRM and ERP information.
  • Develop sales forecasts and account projections.
  • Prepare account reviews, pipeline reports and KPI updates.
  • Maintain visibility into opportunities, projects, revenue performance and customer activity.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Agri-Food or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of strategic account management, business development or strategic sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing and expanding complex B2B customer relationships.
  • Experience within flavors, food ingredients, food & beverage, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals or specialty ingredients strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with technical, R&D or product development teams.
  • Experience supporting global or multinational customers is advantageous.
  • Strong commercial judgment with experience in pricing, negotiations, forecasting and account planning.
  • Comfortable operating in CRM and ERP environments.

You'll Probably Thrive Here If You Are…

Commercially hungry. You enjoy finding the next opportunity rather than simply servicing the business already on the books.

Consultative. You ask good questions, understand the customer's business and develop solutions around what they are trying to accomplish.

Technically curious. You don't need to be the scientist in the room, but you enjoy learning enough about products, applications and formulations to have credible conversations with customers and technical teams.

Relationship-driven. You build trust across multiple levels of an organization and understand that major accounts are won over time.

Highly accountable. You take ownership of customer commitments and make sure things get done.

Collaborative. You know that winning and retaining complex accounts requires coordination across sales, R&D, operations, quality, regulatory, supply chain and finance.

Adaptable. You are comfortable working in an evolving, entrepreneurial environment where growth creates both opportunity and change.
